24 Cases of Chicken! Each one of those cases weighs 45lbs giving me 1,080lbs of cargo . I still could have gotten another 8 cases in there in a pinch. So a WK2 (2011-Present Jeep Grand Cherokee) can fit 32 cases of chicken behind the front seats. Thats 1,440 lbs out of the 2,030 lbs payload capacity. People always ask, “why you would buy a vehicle that has more capability than you’ll ever use?” The easiest answers are that you don’t want a vehicle that struggles to meet your needs and you also want to be prepared for that ONE TIME you do need the capability.
Thats the most interesting thing on “In My Jeep” for this week. Tune in next time, where I again show off why midsize SUVs are the best bodystyle on the planet.

Don’t lie. Those are body parts, not chickens.

I took home half of a cow (butchered) in the back of my Passat wagon a few months ago. I estimate it could have taken 4-6 full cows. They're much smaller that you'd think when cut up. And yes, most of that cow has since been eaten. A year's supply, my ass.

wait...2030 lbs payload? for a base 2WD WK2? The best number I could find is like 1500 lbs payload. EDIT: 1955 lbs. Man, that’s more than I thought! That’s not far off a Nissan Titan XD 4x4 with the 5.0 cummins.

Did I say chicken? I meant chicks.

Good thing the Jeep didn't chicken out on carrying that much payload.

2012 Laredo X package. That should help since there were only three years you could get RWD, the 5.7L, and the new platform at the same time.

With the V8, there is no way its above 2000 lbs, since a 3.6 4x2 larado maxes out at 1955 lbs.

Right?! Jeep executives usually say, “Cluck it, let’s just wing it as usual!”

Huh, well Google fooled me. Oh well, a half ton in the back didn’t impact uphill acceleration. I was really impressed!

that actually is pretty impressive that its as much as it is. Like is said, you can get a ram 1500 with way less payload than that.

Nice!
I got this entire bathroom into our Commander last summer. Forgot to take a picture of it fully loaded. I’ve also loaded 22 bags of mulch (with no trouble).

They need to keep a leg up on the competition.
